The Mango Tree

Like a tree bearing fruit, you provide food to many,

Where there are bees, you are the honey.

Through your eyes, one could understand the world,

A place that makes no sense, you nonetheless observed .

You always say just enough words,

You would say less if you could.

You know what lies beyond the facades,

You feign ignorance, paying it no regard.

Though you’re a person of few words,

Not much is left misunderstood.

Your energy, your nature, the values you display,

Speak louder than anything you’ll ever say.

From time to time, you speak of loneliness ,

Though really, it hints at your godliness.

I can see that you love unconditionally ,

And they love you back just as equally.

But none of them know who you really are,

They only know you from afar.

They’re in love with how you make them feel,

In them, through you, their nature is revealed.

Though you sometimes participate in their myth,

There’s no denying that you have a gift.

You want to protect the ones you love,

The trauma they experienced, you wish to heal them thereof.

I can see that it comes at a cost,

Protecting all those egos, though just,

Robs you of living your truth,

As you endlessly try to make whole those you soothe.

You’re begging for someone to see your light,

As you have done, to make you the apple of their eye

But, when they look at you they see a rose-tinted mirror,

When I look at you, I see you much clearer

You’re not just this being in front of me now,

You are so much more than you allow.

I know that you’ve been here before,

I speak not to you, but to the soul at your core.

There is no room for malice in your heart,

You carry compassion for all who are hurt.

You’re multifaceted, you’re talented,

You’re open-minded, you’re palleted.

You know things of places you’ve never inhabited,

They walk around blindly, while you take nothing for granted.

You know why we’re here,

So what is it that you fear?

Why fit into a world that’s too small for you?

You have a gift, look within to shine through.
